Perched on a hill at the edge of the Wichita Falls metropolitan area, the historic Friberg-Cooper United Methodist church gazes up into the Milky Way galaxy.
On this hilltop, worship services began for the first time in 1896. A church building was constructed in 1902. Fire claimed the original structure in 1938, and in 1939, the current chapel was erected in its place. The glowing cross was installed in 1945 in honor of Rev. T.R. Jenne. On moonless evenings, the beautiful green glow can be seen up to a mile away. As you leave Wichita Falls, there's a point where the southern sky deepens and a canvas of shimmering stars speckles the night sky, where up on a hill a historic church sits, glowing in the night.
